Most folks haven’t participated in a CSA before and have a lot of questions about how it all works, which is great! Here are some of the ones we get the most often… If you still have questions, please get in touch!
How does the pricing work?
We charge a flat rate for our meat deliveries, which contain 10 lbs of meat, no matter which types of meat you choose. This is a pretty different way of doing things compared to a grocery store or farmers markets where each cut is priced differently. We’ve found that it makes our jobs a lot easier and provides you with more value if we don’t worry about that, and instead just divide the meat up from the animals evenly between all our members, based on their preferences and that way everyone gets more of what they want.
When do my deliveries start?
As a CSA, our members pay in advance for the meat that we raise for them. This helps us plan and pay for raising the animals. New members start getting deliveries 1-2 months after signing up. Once your deliveries begin, they continue year-round.
How often will I get deliveries?
Full Size subscriptions get deliveries each month. Half Size subscriptions get deliveries every other month.
Can I switch from a Half Size to Full Size or Full Size to Half Size after my subscription starts?
Yes, at any time. Just send us an email and we can make the change: contact@moomawfarm.com
Do I need to be at home to receive my delivery?
No, we drop off your frozen meat in an insulated bag that keeps it cold for many hours, so you don't have to be at home to accept the delivery. You'll just want to make sure you can get to it by that evening.
What happens if I’m going to be out of town when my delivery is scheduled?
Let us know via email (contact@moomawfarm.com) and we can make other arrangements for you. Sometimes we can reschedule your delivery for another date that same month, or more likely we’ll deliver it the following month. If you are going to be gone for a longer period of time, we can pause your subscription until you get back.
How long does the CSA go for?
We do CSA deliveries year-round on an ongoing basis, so your subscription continues as long as you want it to. There is no renewal period, it’s simply a month-to-month subscription that goes indefinitely. You can cancel at any time, and you’ll continue to get any deliveries you have pre-paid for.
Can I choose which meats I get in my deliveries?
Yes! You can choose any combination of Chicken, Pork, Lamb, and/or Beef. Additionally, you can specify your favorite cuts and which cuts you’d prefer not to get at all. We then use your preferences to pack your deliveries.
